dreams hollowed out like a gold-gutted mountain
yawning with a pillow in my mouth, muting it out
the testing of heavy eyelids
to see if they can overcome the consistency of a sunrise

flowering clock stuck on 4:13:43
its cord dangles near an empty outlet
unplugged and waiting for electric love
flickering lights jump from green to orange, and white

a grainy film of power lines eating up the countryside
the bending and breaking of bittersweet
shells beckoning you to the Oregon coast
where it's 39 degrees with a chance of rain
